Properties:
It is white monoclinic crystal, cold crystal is flat diamond, while hot crystal is amorphous;specific weight is 3.1, Melting point 962ºC, Boiling point 1560ºC, soluble in water, aqueous solution is bitter and salty, toxic; insoluble in alcohols, almost insoluble in HCl; will loose crystalline water and become white powder at 100ºC; stable in the air, toxic to human and animals.
Application:
As a raw material for producing barium salts, such as Barium Hydroxide, Barium Nitrate,Barium Carbonate and etc. Widely used in apermaking dyestuff, rubber, plastic, ceramics,oil refining and petrochemistry and so on. Also used to heat-treat the metals and remove sulphate in the salt water in chlorine-alkali industry.
